Navajo Language |
|||
| Navajo, sometimes also spelled as Navaho, is the only Native American language spoken in the U.S with over 100,000 mother-tongue speakers. In fact, the total number of Navajo native speakers across Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado reaches almost 180,000 people, and this number is constantly growing. The Navajo language is so important that it is one of the three languages (along with Spanish and Haitian-Creaole), for which there is a federal certification program under The Court Interpreters Act of 1978 (and its subsequent 1988 amendments). Navajo is widely spoken by the Navajo people (Diné) in the southwest United States. Therefore, translation and interpreting from and into Navajo is always in great demand. | |||
